Fire District 11 fire commissioners liquidated the fire district and gave all the money and the fire station to the City of Puyallup.
The city received all the tax dollars collected for fire service in the district. Well over $200,000 per year now.
They never added a fireman, never manned the station, never added a fire truck, just took the money.
Then the fire commissioners worked with the city to write the "pro-annexation" statement in the voters pamphlet.
By law, the city was supposed to form an "anti-annexation" statement, but failed to do so.
The voter's pamphlet comes out and says, "We couldn't find anyone to speak out against annexation."
The annexation vote failed by 60%. :)
Now comes the fun stuff.
Mike Deal and Don Malloy are freakin pissed.
Mike Deal is quoted in the paper saying the city is going to discontinue fire service.
After getting blasted at another council meeting, Mike Deal sits back in his chair and says, "It's not the city, we're neutral. It's your neighbors."
This is neutral? written 2 months later
Then he says he doesn't understand why the residents feel the city should be providing fire service.
Mike Deal is so clueless, he has no concept that if the city takes all the assets and cash from the sale of a fire department, they are obligated to provide the service.
Kathy Turner took exception to a statement I made that the fire department took 25 minutes to respond to a call. (It probably is not true, it took 25 minutes to get him to the hospital, the patient did later die.) However, she failed to address any concerns of city staff conduct. She also claimed the city was neutral.

After the city council and staff think their shills are getting close to collecting enough signatures to annex the area,
the fire chief comes out and says that serving the area is no big deal.
